Rare Vintage Soviet GOMZ Shutter with Ortagoz 1:4.5 F=13.5cm Lens from Photokor-1 Camera - Shutter Works, Aperture Issue
Up for sale is a rare vintage Soviet central shutter produced by GOMZ, equipped with an Ortagoz 1:4.5 F=13.5cm lens. This optical and mechanical unit was originally used on the famous pre-war Soviet large format folding camera Photokor-1, manufactured in Leningrad, USSR during the 1930s. The shutter mechanism is fully functional and operates nicely across all shutter speeds (1/25, 1/50, 1/100, K, and D). The glass elements are in great, clean condition, both front and rear. However, there is a known issue with the aperture mechanism. Some aperture blades are damaged or bent, meaning they do not automatically return to their proper position when opening the aperture fully. To reset them, you have to unscrew the rear lens element and adjust the blades manually. Because of this, it is highly recommended to use this lens only wide open at f/4.5, where it performs perfectly and delivers a beautiful vintage bokeh, or to purchase it for parts, restoration, or collection display.
Condition
Pre-owned, vintage condition. The GOMZ shutter mechanism is fully working and fires well at all speeds. The front and rear glass lenses are in good, clean condition. The aperture mechanism is defective: some blades are damaged/bent and do not return smoothly, requiring manual adjustment if changed. Sold as-is for restoration, collection, or use strictly at a wide-open f/4.5 aperture. Please see photos for cosmetic details.
