Built strictly to Ministry of Defence specifications, this historically rugged service knife features highly textured oil-resistant black checkered scales and a heavy-gauge sheepfoot blade designed for rope-cutting and rigging work, making it a classic piece of mid-century military kit.
The knife was made in United Kingdom by Sheffield Cutlers (Warriss / J.H. Thompson). The handle appears to be made from checkered synthetic polymer (Bexoid/Vulcanite) and the blade and metal parts from high-carbon stainless steel. The knife's main blade is approx. 7.0 cm (overall closed length is approx. 9.5 cm). The knife appears to be from approx. 1950s–1960s.
The condition of the knife is in good vintage condition. There is signs of age and use. The knife may need sharpening, cleaning and oiling. The black checkered handle scales are firmly riveted and free of cracks or chips. The heavy steel sheepfoot blade has minor storage scuffs and age patina, but retains its original profile with an excellent thick tip spine, and the rear lanyard shackle moves freely.
These knifes could be used but are more intended for collectors. I've done me best to identify and describe the details of the knife. The photos are the best description, as this is the item you will receive.
