Hand drawn OOAK original charcoal pencil portrait of a crow, in a black frame with a crisp white mount. This one kinda looks like he's in a huff, head down, wings down, toes down, and yet just look at the light on those feathers. Beautiful.
The Story
The crows have featured in many of my drawing series and put food on my table for literally peanuts so now it's time to give back. I'm donating 100% of the proceeds from this sale to Blyth Wildlife Rescue, who do amazing work rescuing and rehabbing across the north east - they turned 20 this year!
This drawing is one of 50 created for The Big Book of Butts, a year long project taking all the out-takes from decades of studying wild corvids and turning them into an art book, butt prints and more.
I have thoroughly enjoyed doing a serious job of a very silly subject - and by only choosing pictures from the 'reject' pile to work from, have been able to study one of my favourite subjects in a whole new way. I expected this to be a one-and-done project but it has pushed me to develop new techniques and produced some of my favourite ever crow drawings.
The Pictures
You will receive
- An original hand drawn crow
- A signed certificate of authenticity
- Your name or a dedication alongside your picture in the online version of the exhibition (optional, just leave a 'note to seller' at checkout).
- Your name or a dedication in the book (optional, due out later this year).
The frames are made from Polcore, an eco friendly material made from mostly recycled polystyrene, with all production waste being reused. They have acrylic glazing so they are safe to post, to clean the glazing use a clean microfibre cloth to avoid scratches. Comes complete with hanging fixtures ready to go on your wall, or use the fold out support to place on a shelf (see final picture for example).
The Value
I chose not to add a minimum because the most important thing is that we raise every penny possible, but I have added a 'buy it now' option that is the same as my standard price for a drawing of this size. They have been created with every bit of care and attention to detail as every other artwork I have ever made.
Please note
Because the whole collection is currently on show at Blyth Public Library to help promote this auction and raise awareness for the charity, I have given a longer shipping time to allow for taking the exhibition down and checking the pieces over before packing them up again to send to you.
