The Qsonica Q500 Sonicator is a 500-watt, 20 kHz programmable ultrasonic processor and power supply (generator) used for cell lysis, emulsification, and dispersion. Misonix (historically associated with Heat Systems and older CL/XL series nomenclature) shares historical product lineage with Qsonica, but the Q500 is a modern digital unit.

The Q500 is an ultrasonic processor featuring programmable operation and a digital display of operating parameters. Adjustable pulse On and Off times can be programmed from 1 second to 1 minute. Total programming has a maximum setting of 10 hours.

Regarding the Microtip Probe

A Misonix microtip probe is a thin, high-intensity ultrasonic accessory designed to screw into a standard probe for processing small sample volumes (typically 0.2 ml to 15 ml) using a ultrasonic cell disruptor or sonicator.

Key Features and Specifications

Function: Creates high-intensity cavitation in small vessels for cell lysis, mixing, and homogenization.

Compatibility: Designed to attach to standard 1/2-inch probes (such as those for legacy Misonix Sonicator units like the XL2000 or S-4000 systems).

Volume Range: Best used for sample sizes between 0.2 ml and 15 ml depending on the specific microtip diameter (1/16" or 1/8")

Operation Warning: Because microtips concentrate high energy into small volumes, they heat samples rapidly. They must be run in pulse mode with chilled samples to avoid overheating, foaming, or aerosol creation. Volumes under 200 µl are generally not recommended.
