MGB MkIII Citron-VA13002
FULLY CERTIFIED LIMITED EDITION
Constantly updated throughout its 18 years in production, the enormously successful MGB received its most obvious and radical changes in September 1974 when large impact absorbing bumpers were fitted to meet US safety legislation. Colloquially known as 'rubber bumpers' they were styled by Harris Mann, who also designed the TR7, and were actually made from Bayflex 90 polyurethane.
As body coloured moulding was considered too expensive they were produced only in satin black, however, in common with other BL cars of the era, the MGB was made available in fashionably vibrant colours such as Blaze (orange), Aconite (purple), Mirage (mauve) and, from early 1974 until early 1976, the Citron yellow modelled here.
