This is a fabulous, chunky, original antique 18ct gold and diamond coiled snake ring, in a size Y1/2, US 12 1/4 (approx). The snake ring became popular during Victorian times, when in 1840, Prince Albert designed a snake ring for Queen Victoria, two snakes wrapped round the finger in an enchanting symbol of eternal love. The snake has 5 diamonds on his head, two of them measure around 2mm (0.03ct each, approx), and others around 1.8mm (0.025mm each, approx). I would estimate the total diamond carat weight to be somewhere between 0.13 - 0.15ct. The ring measures around 9mm in width at the back, and around 1.4cm in width at the front (at it's widest point). It is in remarkably good condition considering it's age (it is 101 years old!). It is fully hallmarked for Chester 1919 as pictured, and it is a very respectable weight at around 10.3g.
