Large Japanese Imari style porcelain charger / decorative plate.

Beautiful hand-painted example featuring a traditional courtly figure scene with iron red, black, white and gilt decoration in the classic Imari style. An attractive display piece with detailed artwork throughout.

Believed to be Japanese in origin, however I am not an expert in Japanese ceramics and have not had the piece professionally authenticated. Please satisfy yourself as to age, origin and period from the photographs provided.

There is a visible crack which has previously been repaired, as shown in the photographs. The repair appears stable, however due to the damage and repair history this item is being sold as a decorative/display piece rather than for functional use.

There is age-related wear to the decoration, gilding and glaze consistent with use and age. There is also crazing visible to the underside. Please inspect all photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description and condition report.

An attractive and decorative Imari style charger which would display well in a collection, interior setting or period-inspired display.
