I’m selling this original Philco TechRep Division copy of Fundamentals of Transistor Electronics, published by Philco Corporation in Philadelphia in 1960 and identified as AN-452.

This is a great piece of early solid-state electronics history from the period when transistor technology was rapidly replacing vacuum-tube circuitry. The book covers transistor construction and characteristics, amplifier operation, power transistors, circuit applications and other fundamentals, with technical illustrations, schematics, photographs and equipment demonstrations throughout.

This copy also comes with the loose period technical material shown in the photos. Included are a General Electric Research Laboratory Technical Information Sheet on tunnel diodes dated July 23, 1959; a foldout Periodic Chart of the Atoms showing valence-electron information; an errata sheet covering Philco training Volumes 2 and 3; and a Philco Technological Center solid-state electronics parts-layout and wiring diagram for a transistor superheterodyne receiver, identified AN-451/PTC.

The book has its original blue Philco TechRep Division covers and three-hole-punched format. The front and rear covers have light scuffing, edge and corner wear, and normal handling wear from age. The interior pages are clean. The loose reference sheets have normal age toning, folds, creases and handling wear. I’ve photographed the book and accompanying material closely so the buyer can see exactly what is included and the condition.

The back cover carries AN-452 along with the Philco print code “PHILCO 5M/7-61.” This is an especially interesting group for a collector of vintage electronics, early transistor technology, semiconductor history, radio engineering, Philco material, technical education or mid-century industrial documentation.
