Offered here is an 1882-CC Morgan Silver Dollar from the famous GSA Treasury holdings, certified by CAC Grading as MS63.
Struck at the legendary Carson City Mint, the 1882-CC had an original mintage of only 1,133,000 pieces. Despite that relatively small production, a substantial number survived in Mint State because quantities remained untouched in Treasury vaults rather than entering circulation. These government-held silver dollars became famous when they were dispersed through the GSA sales of the 1970s, creating one of the most memorable chapters in modern American numismatic history.
The Morgan Dollar was designed by George T. Morgan and remains one of America's most recognizable silver coins. Liberty dominates the obverse, while the reverse features an American eagle surrounded by a wreath. The prized CC mintmark appears beneath the wreath, linking the coin directly to the silver-mining history of Nevada and the American West.
Certified CAC MS63, this example falls comfortably within the Choice Uncirculated range and exhibits the Mint State character sought by collectors of Carson City Morgans.
An appealing combination of Carson City history, GSA provenance, Mint State quality, and CAC certification. This coin will ship with its original GSA box and Certificate of Authenticity (COA) for a more complete GSA presentation.
