Offered here is a high-quality 1883-CC Morgan Silver Dollar from the historic GSA Treasury holdings, certified by CAC Grading as MS64.
Struck at the famous Carson City Mint in Nevada, the 1883-CC had an original mintage of only 1,204,000 pieces. The Carson City Mint's close association with the Comstock Lode and the silver-rich American West has made its CC mintmark one of the most recognizable and desirable mintmarks in all of U.S. numismatics.
A large portion of surviving Mint State 1883-CC dollars owes its preservation to long-term storage in U.S. Treasury vaults. These forgotten bags of silver dollars were eventually identified and many Carson City pieces were sold to collectors through the famous General Services Administration sales of the 1970s. Coins traceable to these holdings remain highly popular with Morgan Dollar specialists.
Designed by George T. Morgan, the obverse features Liberty surrounded by 13 stars, while the reverse displays an American eagle within a wreath. The CC mintmark appears prominently beneath the wreath.
This example has been certified CAC MS64, a strong Choice Uncirculated grade that offers an appealing combination of preservation, historical provenance, and the ever-popular Carson City pedigree.
