Offered here is an 1882-CC Morgan Silver Dollar from the historic GSA Treasury holdings, certified by CAC Grading as MS62. This desirable Carson City issue combines several of the most popular areas of Morgan Dollar collecting: a classic CC mintmark, Mint State preservation, and documented association with the famous government-held Treasury hoard.
The 1882-CC Morgan Dollar was struck at the Carson City Mint in Nevada, with a relatively modest original mintage of 1,133,000 coins. Large numbers were never released into ordinary circulation and instead remained in Treasury vaults for decades. Many of these long-stored Carson City dollars were eventually discovered in government holdings and sold to the public through the celebrated General Services Administration (GSA) sales of the 1970s.
Designed by George T. Morgan, the obverse features Liberty surrounded by 13 stars and the inscription E PLURIBUS UNUM. The reverse depicts an American eagle with outstretched wings above the distinctive CC mintmark, identifying the coin as a product of the legendary Carson City Mint.
This example has been certified CAC MS62, confirming a fully Mint State coin with no circulation wear.
A desirable certified GSA Carson City Morgan Dollar with strong historical appeal and an excellent addition to a Morgan Dollar, Carson City, GSA, or Old West collection. This coin will ship with its original GSA box and Certificate of Authenticity (COA).
