Offered here is an 1883-CC Morgan Silver Dollar from the celebrated GSA Treasury holdings, certified by CAC Grading as MS63.
The 1883-CC Morgan Dollar was struck at the Carson City Mint with an original production of just 1,204,000 coins. As with several Carson City issues of this period, a significant portion of the mintage escaped circulation and remained stored in government vaults for generations.
The eventual discovery and sale of these Treasury-held Morgan Dollars through the GSA program in the 1970stransformed the market for Carson City coinage and introduced thousands of collectors to these historic silver dollars. Today, GSA-associated Carson City Morgans remain a collecting specialty of their own.
Designed by George T. Morgan, the coin features Liberty on the obverse and an American eagle on the reverse. The CC mintmark beneath the wreath identifies the coin as a product of the historic Nevada branch mint.
This example is certified CAC MS63, providing the desirable combination of Choice Uncirculated preservation, third-party certification, Carson City origin, and GSA provenance.
An excellent certified example for a Morgan Dollar, Carson City, GSA, or Western Americana collection. This coin will ship with its original GSA box and Certificate of Authenticity (COA) to complete the presentation.
