A Delightful Late 19th Century Silver
Tea Caddy. The body featuring highly detailed continuous pastoral
landscape with Playful Putti (Cherubs) framed by dramatic asymmetrical
C-scrolls, florals and cartouches. The top and bottom are finished with sharp
raised beaded borders. Complete with the original matching top with an ornate
finial.
Marks on the base with pseudo-hallmarks
produced by silver workshops in Hanau, Germany. Rococo Revival featuring deep
and crisp hand chased and repousse relief work.
Very good antique condition, minor
crease across the shoulder, I have tried to picture this however, it is so minor
that it does not show up in my photographs. The lift off top, with Putti design,
fits snugly.
Measures approximately, 2 ½” in
diameter x 4 ½” to top of the finial. Pictured next to a quarter coin for
scale. Weighs approximately, 151.50 grams (5.344 ounces.
Germany, circa 1890.
