One of the most appealing aspects of the collection is the inclusion of the matching Romeo and Juliet Bunnykins. Both figures were issued in 2003 and recreate Shakespeare's famous lovers in Royal Doulton's unmistakable Bunnykins style.
Also forming a natural pair are Judge Bunnykins DB188 and Lawyer Bunnykins DB214. Judge was a single-year 1999 issue, followed by Lawyer as a single-year 2000 issue.
The ecclesiastical theme is represented by Choir Singer Bunnykins DB223, issued in 2001, together with Vicar Bunnykins DB254, issued in 2002. Both were short-lived single-year designs.
Completing the collection is Once Upon a Time DB441, depicting an older Bunnykins character seated comfortably with a younger rabbit. This later figure was produced as an exclusive Royal Doulton International Collectors Club issue.
The mixture of theatrical, legal, church and storytelling subjects makes this much more interesting than a random assortment, while the unusually high number of short-production figures gives the collection additional appeal to established Bunnykins collectors.
Together the seven create a colourful and highly displayable group spanning Royal Doulton Bunnykins production from the end of the 1990s into the 2000s.
A particularly nice feature of this collection is that six of the seven figures were single-year Royal Doulton issues.
Judge, Lawyer, Choir Singer and Vicar followed consecutively from 1999 through 2002, while the matching Romeo and Juliet figures were both issued in 2003.
Once Upon a Time adds a later Collectors Club exclusive to the group, giving the collection a good spread of character designs and issue periods.
All seven figures are in good vintage condition overall.
No chips, cracks, damage or repairs have been observed.
There is some light handling and surface wear in places consistent with age and previous display, but nothing significant to report.
The colours and glazed finishes remain attractive and the figures display particularly well together.
