a rare original 1920s 30s art deco large rug textile carpet from the Netherlands the Dutch version of art deco is called 'Amsterdam school' and this area rug is in the same style as by famous Dutch designers Jaap Gidding, Anton Hamaker etc. the hand woven plush wool pile rug features a beautiful geometric abstract pattern in a harmonious palette of different shades and muted tones of brown and beige. creating a richly atmospheric and moody composition. In excellent vintage condition, it has a few small lighter areas but this doesn't detract from it's beauty. i hand picked this wonderful Amsterdam School piece on a collectors fair in the Netherlands.
