- 3 metres — two-thirds more reach than the lead in the box. Most figure-8 appliances ship with 1.8 m, which only works if the power point sits directly behind them.

- Genuine Australian two-pin flat mains plug, moulded directly onto the cable in a low-profile round body. Not a US, UK or European plug, and not a travel adaptor fitted to the end of a cord.
- 0.75 mm² two-core, double insulated, rated 7.5 A at 250 V, black. Two-core unearthed, which is what a figure-8 appliance expects.
- Full-gauge conductor over the whole run. The 0.75 mm² core is the same gauge as our standard-length leads — the extra distance is not bought with thinner copper.
Product Overview
A 3 metre figure-8 mains lead: an Australian two-pin wall plug at one end, an IEC C7 figure-8 socket at the other. The same lead a standard figure-8 appliance already uses, in the length that actually reaches the outlet.
Three metres is the length most rooms are short by. The lead supplied with a television, console, printer or soundbar is usually 1.8 m, and that figure assumes an outlet immediately behind the appliance. Move the unit onto a wall bracket, into a cabinet, or to the far side of a desk and it comes up a metre or so short — which is how a power board ends up doing a job one cable could do. Three metres closes that gap in almost every domestic case, and it does it without leaving a large surplus loop to be bundled up behind the unit, which is the trade-off at five metres.
Check the connector on your appliance before you order. A figure-8 socket has two round holes side by side, in a shape like the number 8. If yours has three holes in a clover or triangle pattern it is a C5 cloverleaf and this lead will not fit. If it has three holes in a squared-off D shape it is a C13 kettle socket, which is also different. The two-hole figure-8 is the one this lead mates with.
What it is not: it is not an extension cord and it does not convert anything — both ends are ordinary figure-8 lead ends, just further apart. It replaces the figure-8 power lead you already have with a longer one of the same type.
