A stunning and very rare, freeform, seashell shaped art glass bowl/vase from The London Glassblowing Workshop of Peter Layton.
This exceptional piece is in the 'Glacier' pattern, which I think dates from the 80's or 90's.
It is  also similar to the 'Kimono' series of the same period.
The vase is in a clear glass, delicately cased in a white translucent glass and overlaid with black mottled swirls and banding. There are  joined up pulls and twists to the molten glass on the rim, giving it a seashell like appearance.
The vase is in excellent condition with absolutely no damage issues, the flat polished base doe not appear to be signed. The last 3 images show the vase next to images from Peter's book 'Peter Layton & Friends' showing an almost identical vase.
The vase is 7.5 cm tall and 16.5 cm at widest point..
A truly beautiful, collectors piece.
I have more Peter Layton pieces listed.
Please check out my other listings for more Studio/Art Glass to which I will be adding to regularly.
Good Luck!
