This stamp issue features works by artist Oleksii Kustovskyi (Kusto), who offers a new symbolic interpretation of the Ukrainian coat of arms. In the artist’s interpretation, the Trident appears not only as a symbol of state authority, but also as a sign of inner strength, determination, and readiness to fight.

On the stamp, the Trident is rendered in blue and yellow using a pixelated military camouflage pattern. At the bottom of the coat of arms, the artist has incorporated a military salute—a hand pressed to the heart. This is how Ukrainian servicemen salute, greet their comrades, place their hand over their heart while singing the Ukrainian national anthem, bid farewell to the fallen, and accept state awards. It is precisely this gesture that explains the issue’s title—“Trident. Honor.” It combines the state symbol with the concepts of service, dignity, and loyalty to Ukraine.

The sheet’s coupon is complemented by lines from Ivan Kotlyarevsky’s “Eneida”: “Where love for the fatherland reigns, no enemy force can stand…” Written over two centuries ago, these lines still sound surprisingly contemporary today, combining Ukrainian cultural tradition with the struggle for freedom and independence.
