The Lotus 49, introduced in 1967 revolutionised grand prix cars. With it’s monocoque chassis using the engine as a stressed member and the new Ford Cosworth DFV engine it set a new benchmark dominating the next year (1968) and bringing Graham Hill his second world drivers’ championship.

This lot consists of an invaluable reference text for anyone building a model Lotus 49 of any scale and detail parts to enhance the engine of any 1:12 scale model.

The text is Model Factory Hiro ‘Joe Honda Racing Pictorial Series No 26 - “lotus 49 1967’. This a softcover book, 297 x 232 mm, 100 pages, printed in colour. The text is in Japanese language. The book is in excellent condition with no damage. The first 72 pages of the book detail the Lotus 49 at the 6 races of the 1967 Grand Prix season, starting with its debut at the Dutch GP. The are a large number of detailed photographs of all parts of the car including with its bodywork removed. The last 28 pages of the book show the Japan-Indy race of 1966 and the 1967 Pau F2 Grand Prix, both of which featured Jim Clark along with many other of the then current formula 1 drivers.

The detail parts are a set of Thunder Valley ‘Formula Perfect’ 1:12 scale metal photo-etch parts for the Lotus 49 Ford DFV engine. These parts are easy to apply and will enhance any model. They are accompanied by a diagram showing where each part fits on the engine. They are in good condition with no damage. One piece has separated from its sprue. This is shown in the photographs. Note that because this set is for the Lotus 49, the AA, BB & CC sprues are not included. This set is no longer generally available due to Thunder Valley ceasing operation.
