Guys (and gals), if you've been in the dilema of trying to find a replacement screw or screws that work with Sachtler quick-release plates, then you've probably found that none of them work and there may be a good reason why; Sachtler appears to have deliberately designed it so - or was it unplanned - maybe, who knows. I digress.
Such was my own dilemma a few months ago so I sent the remaining screw I had to a CNC / Milling works and had them copy it exactly, well almost, because I didn't want Sachtler suing me over this and depriving them of the exorbitant amount of money they charge if you purchase them through one of their dealers.
In order to try to please everyone who needs a Sachtler screw, I had the machine shop make a batch of 500 for me to sell on eBay and to enable me to recouperate the costs involved in the manufacture of a non-standard screw.
Finally, before you're tempted to have a go at me over the price I'm charging, remember that I've made this offer postage free to all buyers in the UK and I need to recuperate my costs as well as make a small profit as my time is not free - I have bills like the rest of you. Oh, and eBay take their share for as I am a registered business seller - bless ‘em.
