Compatibility WARNING: These CD-RW music discs are specifically designed for standalone CD recorders that you may find in a hi-fi system. Notice the logo, “compact disc, digital audio, rewritable”. There are some earlier machines that require rewritable discs to feature the logo that says “compact disk, digital audio, rewritable, for consumer.” To add to the confusion, not all “For consumer” compatible discs will have the four consumer marking. These disks are not compatible with machines that need the “ for consumer” logo. Also keep in mind, If your machine has been used heavily, with age, it will eventually lose its ability to burn on to rewritable discs. This is where an understanding of the technology can really pay off. Rewritable music discs require the laser to get significantly hotter in order for them to work at all. As machines age, they will lose the ability to get hot enough to burn onto rewritable discs. With enough time they will also lose their ability to burn onto discs entirely.
