Up for our consideration at this time is a stunning, authentic late Victorian/early Edwardian porcelain biscuit jar (or biscuit barrel). this exquisite piece features a premium collaboration between two legendary British manufacturers from the turn of the century (circa 1895-1914. This jar features the signature "blush ivory" cream porcelain created by Locke & Co. at the shrub Hill works in Worcester, England. It is beautifully decorated with an elegant, swirling relief-molded foliate design that gives it a wonderfully tactile texture. the bottom is fully stamped with the authentic printed green Locke & Co. Worcester England factory mark. The hardware is comprised of the collar, domed lid, and tall swing handle were crafted in Sheffield, England, by the renowned silversmiths William Briggs & co. Underneath the lid's metal rim features the original stamped makers marks ("W B & Co S")
CONDITION & PATINA NOTE
Porcelain: excellent antique condition. No chips, cracks or repairs. The relief detailing remains sharp and crisp.
Metalwork: the original silver-plated hardware retains its rich, untouched historic dark Patina. We have deliberately chosen NOT to polish or clean the metal to protect the micro-thin silver plating from damage and preserve its authentic antique look for the next collector.
