About the Artist:   LASAR SEGALL was a important and influential Lithuanian Jewish and Brazilian painter, printmaker/ wood engraver, and sculptor whose works were derived from Dresden expressionism and German neo-modernism.  His most significant themes were depictions of human suffering, war, persecution, and prostitution.
