A "Private Stock" guitar, hailed as the ultimate instrument, ordered on-site!
This guitar was ordered in 2025 after visiting the factory and selecting the wood myself.
When I ordered, I imagined a PRS guitar with densely packed flame maple grain, but among the many pieces of wood laid out, what caught my eye and in my hands was a piece with a unique grain that resembled a bird's feather. It was love at first sight; as a bird lover, I thought the dynamic and distinctive grain was like the feathers of a budgie, and I felt that the characteristic yellow and green colors of a budgie would be a perfect match, so I decided on Laguna Fade.
After selecting the wood, Paul Miles told me that he had marked the pieces that particularly caught his eye among the many available, and he appreciated my selection. Looking closely at the wood, I can indeed see the star mark in addition to the letters P and S. I am extremely happy to have found such a wonderful piece of wood.
The fretboard intentionally utilizes the natural variations in ziricote wood grain, with a cut that evokes the image of a parakeet's perch. From the headstock top wood to the truss rod cover, every detail was carefully selected and cut to seamlessly connect with the fretboard's grain, reflecting the meticulous attention to detail only possible with a Private Stock instrument.
With the fretboard finalized smoothly, the next step was the inlays. While visiting the factory, I had decided on sparkle resin, although it wasn't yet on the inlay sample chart. I pondered for a while, trying to figure out which color would suit this model, spreading out yellow, green, and blue glitter. Then, a thought suddenly struck me: the beauty of gradients—one of the reasons I fell in love with PRS—could this be achieved with sparkle resin? So, I tentatively made the audacious request to Paul Miles: could the glitter also have a gradient to match the body's gradient? To my surprise, he readily agreed, and a gradient glitter resin was realized! The color mixing was left to our discretion, resulting in a pioneering model featuring sparkle resin gradation.
The pickups are 'Dragon II'. While not a standard combination for the Custom24, these pickups possess a unique and appealing character. The mahogany body and neck provide a solid mid-to-low range sound without being overly powerful, resulting in a highly versatile Custom24 suitable for any genre. The neck features a Pattern Thin design. Its relatively slim profile and excellent playability further enhance its genre-less sound.
With its relatively simple specifications, yet incorporating innovative elements, this is truly the ultimate instrument.
