We present a super quality expansive maritime landscape in oils, a t-class clipper galleon moored in an estuary near Whitby, North Yorkshire, England, preparing for sail, crewmen to shore.   This is a painting by the celebrated marine artist Les ‘Jason Spence (British, b1934).   Yorkshire-born Les Spence trained as an etcher, engraver, printmaker and sign-writer before turning professional as an artist in 1955.  His haunting, expansive maritime landscapes were noted for their depth yet simple presentation, standing out form more traditional, conservative maritime works, being fresh and modern in approach.  This is a fine example of Spence’ work.  Besides being known for his one-man shows, appearing in maritime galleries across the country, Spence has also exhibited at the Royal Society of British Artists.  His clients include the British Royal Navy and Royal Marines, the Norwegian Navy, publishers including Readers Digest.  Many examples of the work of Les ‘Jason’ Spence  can be seen on artprice.com, askart.com, invaluable.com and mutuaart.com, besides leading international auction sites and galleries.  Presented in excellent condition  in its original frame, this painting will look fabulous displayed
