Features & Highlights
Introducing the Porsche Design by IWC Ocean 2000 Ref. 3500, one of the most iconic military-inspired dive watches of the 1980s.
Created through the historic collaboration between Porsche Design and IWC, the Ocean 2000 was originally developed to meet the demanding requirements of the German Navy (Bundeswehr). Designed by the legendary Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, creator of the iconic Porsche 911, it remains a benchmark of minimalist functional design.
This early example features a 42 mm titanium case treated with a rare black surface-hardening finish, giving the watch a stealthy appearance while enhancing durability. At a time when titanium was still an exotic material in watchmaking, the Ocean 2000 demonstrated how strength and lightness could coexist in a professional diving instrument.
The black dial has developed subtle signs of aging over time, adding character while maintaining a clean and attractive appearance. Its highly legible layout, luminous markers, and uncluttered design reflect Porsche Design's philosophy that form should always follow function.
Powering the watch is the reliable IWC Cal. 37521 automatic movement, engineered for everyday practicality and professional performance.
Today, the Ocean 2000 is celebrated not only as a capable diver's watch but also as a landmark piece of industrial design, highly regarded by collectors around the world.
