Up for sale is a gorgeous hand-blown New Jersey blob soda or beer bottle dating to the 1860s. It's a good example of the late squat / pony soda shape, a relatively small cylindrical form with gradual sloping shoulders and short neck. It's a very good pale apple green (or very, VERY strong green aqua), and I've pictured it next to regular blue aqua hutch for color comparison (that other bottle is for sale in its own separate listing). The bottle was blown in a full-body "private" mold and it's embossed at front with "W. S. KINCH / PATERSON / N.J." with a large block letter "K" at the rear. The same block letter "K" is embossed on the recessed base too with a small circle entwined. It has got an applied round blob lip. It's around 7 1/2" tall, and a bit under 2 1/2" in diameter at the base.

There's a lot of different Kinch blobs from Paterson, I've got a couple others listed. This one is one of the earliest - the serif lettering and the shape identify it as an 1860s example, probably predating the Civil War. It's in very good condition, seemingly never buried with no stain but still heavily used with moderate scratching and scuffing in several patches, plus a wide shallow chip under the base, and a couple very tiny nicks and a bruise to the top edge of the mouth. The chip is at the rear and it's easy to overlook - not a bad example of this rare bottle in great color!
