In 2026, the world marks the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States of America. It was on July 4, 1776, in Philadelphia that thirteen British colonies proclaimed the creation of a new state founded on the principles of freedom, equality, and inalienable human rights.

Ukraine and the United States share a relatively short yet meaningful history of partnership. On December 25, 1991, the United States officially recognized Ukraine’s independence, and diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on January 3, 1992. Since then, the United States has consistently supported democratic transformation in Ukraine, the development of institutions, and the strengthening of international security.

Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the United States has become one of Ukraine’s key allies, providing military, economic, and humanitarian assistance. Therefore, this Ukrainian postal issue dedicated to the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence is not only a tribute to the history of American statehood, but also a symbol of solidarity between the peoples of Ukraine and the United States, united by the shared values of freedom, democracy, and dignity.
