A very nice, if a little tired, copy of "The Gardener's Assistant: Practical and Scientific" by Robert Thompson.

Overall a little tired and showing its age.

Covers - fully bound, by Blackie and Son, (label to inside back cover,) in embossed decoration black leather with gilt decorated raised bands and red label with gilt lettering to spine - with heavy bumps, flaking and scuffs to boards and spine, heavy scratches, indentations and marks, both boards are very mobile on the spine, spine is rather mobile overall, leather is very rubbed in places, and a little faded in some areas, with splits to spine top and bottom, wear to gilt.

Pages - with marbled inside covers, end pages and page tops/bottoms/edges, middle pages are reasonably tight to binding with outer ones mobile on binding - front end and fly pages are split/splitting away from binding, and there are a few detached pages to the index/end page at the back, heavily age tanned and foxed - especially to outer pages/plate margins/plate covers, with bumps to corners, handling marks and creases, grubby tops/bottoms/edges.
