We present a super quality impressionist oil painting study of rural life on a farmstead, c1980s to early 1990s, by the Spanish painter Pedro Fraile (b1957). Born just outside Madrid, Fraile was brought up on the estate of Suertes Viejas, a working farmstead where his father was manager. Recognised for his artistic talent from an early age, by age-eight, Fraile was sent to the creative workshop of Spanish painter Manuel Benedito. After primary education, Fraile enrolled in the Superior School of Fine Arts in Madrid. Greatly influenced by the painters of rural life, harvesting, the Mediterranean cultures and lighting while at La Escuela de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid, Fraile’s influences were from the hands of Antonio Lopez Torres. He also studied the works of Velazquez and Goya, and the impressionists Joaquim Sorolla, Joaquim Mir, Eliseo Meifren, Segundo Matilla, Ignacio Pinaro and Cecilio Pla. Turning professional on graduation, Pedro Fraile has suibseuqnetly exhibited widely, in Madrid, Barbazon, and Paris, in France and to New York, where his work is widely held.
