This is a nice geode from St. Francisville, Missouri. It was collected from a geode rich rock layer from the Midwestern Tri-State area of Missouri-Illinois-Iowa know as the Keokuk Region. Geodes can be found in the Mississippian-aged rock formation know as the Warsaw anywhere within a 60 mile radius of the city of Keokuk, Iowa, where these states converge.

This geode is composed of an outer shell of Chalcedony that has been lined with hundreds of sparkling quartz crystals. Tiny Pyrite crystals can be seen sitting on some of the quartz. Adorning the center is a beautiful Calcite crystal. It is clear and has excellent luster and shine. The crystal is well formed and perfect. It also contains Pyrite inclusions.
