This is a large Smoky Quartz Geode from the Keokuk Region, an area world renowned for it's excellent quality, and the diversity of minerals and crystal combinations that may be found within. This geode was collected from a geode-bearing layer of shale in Clark County, Missouri.

It is composed of an outer shell of Chalcedony that has been lined with hundreds of sparkling quartz crystals. The crystals are very gemmy and have excellent luster and shine. They also have a nice smoky tint to them. Adorning the quartz is a perfectly formed Calcite Crystal. It is well formed and has beautiful crystal faces. Tiny brassy yellow Pyrite crystals dot the surface of some of the quartz, although they are hard to see in the photos.

There is a second geode attached to the back that remains unopened. You can decide on your preference of opening it or leaving it a mystery.
