This is a beautiful geode from the Tri-state area known as the Keokuk Region to avid rockhounds and geode collectors in the Midwest. This area produces some of the world's finest and most unique geodes. The types of minerals and crystal combinations can be spectacular and are the pride of many collections.

This geode is composed of an outer shell of Chalcedony that has been filled with hundreds of sparkling quartz crystals. The crystals are well formed and give off lots of sparkle and shine. Adorning the quartz is a beautiful prismatic cluster of calcite crystals.  As you can see from the photos it is a well formed, natural ornament to this geode. Small crystals of pyrite are peppered on the quartz. Just pull out a magnifying glass and this geode becomes even more spectacular.
