This is a midwestern geode collected from an area know as the Keokuk Region, arguably the world's best geode producing area. Keokuk Geodes are spherical geologic secondary formations within sedimentary rock that have an outer shell, usually chalcedony, that has been filled with all types of minerals. They are mostly found within a sedimentary rock later known as the Warsaw Formation. These geodes are world renowned for the beautiful and diverse mineral combinations and crystal types that may be found inside. The region comprises the states of Missouri, Illinois and Iowa in a radius of roughly 100 miles centered around the city of Keokuk, Iowa which is where these geodes receive their name.  

This one is full of sparkling quartz crystals, some of which have a beautiful citrine tint to them. Standing out prominently are frosty white Calcite Crystals. There is also Aragonite coating some of the quartz as well.
