This is a double geode from the Keokuk Region, an area world renowned for it's beautiful and unique geodes. It was collected near the town of Hamilton, Illinois. It is a double geode meaning that 2 separate geodes formed together at the same time. There are plenty of well formed, water clear quartz crystals some of which have a light smoky color. There are exquisitely formed, honey-colored globular Aragonite crystals that have formed on top of the quartz crystals in a few places. In other places the Aragonite has formed a lacey coating of white on the crystals. The smaller geode cavity has a well formed Calcite crystal in the center. Several larger quartz crystals line the perimeter.

It is roughly the size of a baseball.  All of the referenced special features make this an excellent geode to add to any collection.
