This is a private sale for a 2005 Ford StreetKa. First
registered 31st March 2005 and the MoT is valid until 8th August 2026. The
current mileage is just over 101,200 miles. It's the 'luxury' specification
meaning it has metallic paint, 16" alloy wheels, air conditioning, heated
leather seats and electrically adjustable heated door mirrors.
Current owner (my parents) since 2018 and it's seen light use over that time,
covering around 10,000 miles. Servicing has been performed by the owner and a
local independent garage. Overall, the car is in good condition, but it is 21
years old and has various age-related flaws.
The photographs were taken on 24th May 2026.
Reason for sale: The car is being sold due to lack of
use - it needs to be driven and enjoyed, so it’s time to part with it.
I've tried to be as complete as possible in my description and have presented
the car honestly. This is a private sale and so no warranty is offered - it's
sold as seen. Please read through the summary below. I have provided more
detail in the sections thereafter, but please let me know if you have any
questions.
Please note: the car is located near Winchester, Hampshire.
Summary
Positives:
Negatives:
The car has the original Ford stereo system, complete with the code. However, it currently won’t power on – this could be something trivial (like a fuse) but could equally be something else entirely. I will endeavour to look at this before the car sells.
Otherwise, it's a nice example of a car that's genuinely fun to drive. The ride
is firm but surprisingly compliant meaning longer road trips are entirely
do-able. It sits at motorway speeds quite happily (roof up or down) and has a
usefully sized boot, meaning road trips are well catered for. However, it bears
restating that this is a 21-year-old car and so please set your expectations
accordingly.
Mechanical
The engine is the standard and original 1.6l inline four paired to a five-speed
manual gearbox. It runs well and drives very nicely. It comes up to temperature
and stays there; the fan kicks-in as it should and there's never been any sign
of overheating. It's been well serviced through a combination of DIY and a
local garage, but not all of this is recorded. It cranks and starts easily,
it's also had a new battery fairly recently. The steering is quick and direct -
the high-pressure side of the power steering hydraulic circuit was replaced
two-or-so years ago. All fluids are where they should be.
Brakes and suspension
As noted above, I think there's a little too much travel in the brake pedal.
The car stops properly and pulls up straight, but I want to include this in the
description. The front discs and pads, plus the rear drums and shoes all seem
fine. The front flexis were changed in the last year-or-so and the fluid has
been changed with new (plus fully bled). The suspension is in good order and
the car rides very well. All four tyres match but the fronts are newer - the
rears will need changing in the not-too-distant future due to their age. The
StreetKa is relatively light so tyres will sometimes age-off before they wear
out.
Bodywork
The car presents very nicely. It's metallic silver and the paint still has an
excellent shine. There are small portions of rust showing on some of the
flatter panels such as the bonnet and boot, but these are small and the
pictures are a fair representation of the car's condition. There is a small
section of rust in the driver's door jamb but seems very solid. The sills are
in good condition and whilst there is some surface rust here and there, I don't
think it's at all unreasonable for the age of the car. Whilst Ford cars of this
generation have a reputation for rusting, this is a solid example that doesn't
hide its age or mileage.
The underside is in good condition (see pictures), which includes the rear
subframe mounts. The beam axle had some surface rust and so this was wire
brushed, cleaned, prepared and painted in black Hammerite for protection. As
noted above, the trailing edge of the fuel tank had surface rust and the same
approach was applied. The tank doesn’t leak and it appears the original black
paint has simply started to split, which in turn led to surface corrosion
forming. The exhaust hangs properly throughout the length of the car and the
heat shielding is all in-place.
All of the glasswork is fine including the lights, though there's some
age-related clouding to the front driving lights. The main headlight units are
still clear and crisp, as are the rears. The hood goes up-and-down properly and
is a remarkably simple but effective design. It is mohair and in excellent
condition, as are the body seals meaning there are no signs of leaks. The
heater is surprisingly effective which makes for good, year-round convertible
motoring. The plastic rear screen is fine and cleans up well.
Interior
This is in generally excellent condition. As noted above the rear view and
passenger vanity mirrors aren't perfect, but the rest of the interior is very
good indeed. The seats are supportive with no rips, tears or excessive marking.
The seat heaters work and the leather is in good condition; it was recently
'fed' to keep it supple. The dash instruments work correctly - though the clock
tends to run slow - and all interior panels are present and correct. The
'flip-up' cubby in the dash still works, the door bins are complete (not
cracked), the stowage net is in-place and the lock-box is original (and so
works with the key). The wind deflector between the 'hoops' is in-place and
does an excellent job.
Conditions of sale
This is an original Ford StreetKa that's 21 years old - it's fun, easy and very
engaging to drive but please bear this in mind and set your expectations
accordingly.
Cash on collection or bank transfer only, please. The car is being sold due to
lack of use, so offers to part-exchange are appreciated but cannot be accepted
I'm afraid. UK buyers only, please.
Standard eBay terms and conditions apply. Please let me know if you have any
questions and I'll do my best to answer them.
Thank you for your interest.
