Lou Piniella played in the Majors in 1964 with the Orioles, 1968 with the Indians and from 1969-1073 with the Royals before coming to the New York Yankees 1974-1984. An All-Star in 1972, he batted .291 with 102 Home Runs, 766 RBI for his career. With the Yankees, Piniella was a member of back-to-back World Series Champions in 1977 and 1978. After his playing days, he coached in New York for a couple years before being named Manager of the Yankees. Piniella managed the Yankees in 1986, 1987 and 1988 before being replaced. After a year, the Cincinnati Reds named him Manager and in his first year, led the Reds to the 1990 World Series Championship, going wire-to-wire. Although he was only there 1990-92, he is beloved by Reds fans. Lou managed the Seattle Mariners 1993-2002. He was named Manager of the Year 3 times, in 1995, 2001 and 2008 with Seattle. The Mariners had a 116-Win season with Lou at the helm. His record as a manager was 1,835-1,712. Lou was recently elected to the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame, to be inducted in April 2026.
