Shepherd with his Flock of Sheep 19th C British School Oil Painting Unsigned c1850/80
ARTIST: Appears unsigned, mid-19th C British School SUBJECT: A shepherd with his flock of sheep in the English countryside MEDIUM: Oil on chamfered mahogany panel SIGNATURE: Appears unsigned DATE: c1850 - 1880 SIZE: Visible painting 20 x 17cm (8 x 6.5 inches), Frame 34 x 30cm ( 13.5 x 11.5 inches), Depth 6cm (2 inches) PROVENANCE: British estate sale, private collection CONDITION: Good to fair, overall; extensive age-related crackleur and crazing following years of display; the mahogany pane has very slightly bowed with age but fits its frame and displays well. This work is in a genuine, unrestored condition and very presentable as existing FRAME: Probably a slightly later frame, although with some age, dealership label to verso. The frame shows light age-related wear and would benefit from a light clean, to suit the buyer’s preferences FOR SALE BY AUCTION WITHOUT RESERVE.

The painting, mid-19th C English School, dates c1850 – 1880 in our opinion. Presented in good to fair condition in a slightly later frame, this painting will look fabulous displayed
