The Les Paul Special Double Cutaway is back in the regular lineup!
The Gibson Les Paul Special first appeared in 1955 as an upgrade to the Les Paul Junior.
Like the Les Paul Junior, it featured a mahogany body and added two pickups, controls, and a pickup selector switch.
Furthermore, while the fingerboard binding and a more luxurious pearl headstock logo slightly improved its ornamentation and functionality, it retained the simple wraparound bridge and tailpiece and practical style of the Junior model.
With its expanded range of sound variations, this model was quickly embraced by many professional musicians.
In 1958, the Les Paul Special transitioned to a double-cutaway body, improving access to the upper frets. In 1960, the neck pickup was repositioned to more stabilize the neck-to-body joint, and the newly developed slim taper neck profile further enhanced the instrument's overall quality.
Gibson is once again welcoming the Les Paul Special Double Cutaway back into its regular lineup. This is a return to classic designs that have shaped sounds that transcend eras and musical genres, and have been loved, played, and established their raison d'être.
It features a double-cutaway mahogany body, a slim-taper profile mahogany neck, and a rosewood fingerboard.
The headstock is equipped with Gibson Vintage Deluxe tuners for smooth torque and precise adjustment, and features an inlaid mother-of-pearl Gibson logo.
The simple wrap-around bridge and tailpiece have two pitch adjustment screws, delivering exceptional tone and sustain.
The electronics feature two P-90 Soapbar pickups, and the tone circuit uses high-quality OrangeDrop capacitors and is hand-wired.
A hardshell case is included.
