Description:  A good, sound, worn example of the first printing of the first UK edition. Original hardback. v + 279 + 8 pages. Original endpapers. The book has some bumping and wear to the corner-tips and spine-ends, repaired splits to the edges of the spine, and some light fading (see pictures). Some toning to prelims (see pictures). Binding slightly tender at rear hinge, but holding nicely sound and square. Very light pencil inscription to front endpaper.
