Description

About this guitar:
Weight: 7.9 pounds

This guitar came directly from Fender to my supplier, it has never been sold retail, the protective covers are still on the pick guard, back plates and the back of the tuners.  It was tested by a team of factory technicians, all electronics are working as designed, the neck is straight with no issues, no fret buzz, and the body has no issues.   When we polished the guitar we noticed some very light what could be scratches or could be from the paint drying process.  They are so light it is hard to tell, you can only see them if you are holding the guitar with the light shining at an angle.
Per agreement with Fender, since this guitar was not distributed through their dealer network there is a tiny used stamp on the back of the headstock, and the last two digits of the stamped serial number have been removed and a sticker with the serial number is placed over the stamped number.

Here is what Fender says about the Jim Adkins JA-90 Telecaster:

When Jimmy Eat World guitarist and frontman Jim Adkins collaborated with Fender in designing his perfect guitar, the result was his signature JA-90 Telecaster Thinline guitar. Fender craftsmen sat down with Adkins and went over his old Fender TC-90 spec by spec, making several important changes that subsequently produced this unique model. Features include a maple neck set into a semi-hollow ash body, Seymour Duncan soap-bar pickups, independent volume and tone controls, Adjusto-Matic bridge and anchored tailpiece.

FAQ, frequently asked questions

Why are instruments sent to a refurbisher?  The instrument could be a discontinued model, have a finish imperfection, or need a minor repair.

Who refurbishes your instruments?  All of my instruments come from the largest and best refurbisher in the country, where any issue found is corrected by a factory trained and authorized luthier.

Does a refurbished instrument have the manufacturer warranty?  No, any instrument sent to a refurbisher, regardless of the reason it was sent there, no longer carries the manufacturer warranty.

Will I need to set up my instrument when I receive it?  All of my instruments have been set-up before shipping, so most are ready to play out of the box.  However some instruments may need a minor adjustment after shipping due to changes in temperature, humidity, and  getting bumped around during shipping.  Also some players like to set up a new guitar to their own personal preferences.

They are sent there for many reasons, including: returns, cosmetic flaws, minor repairs, surplus & discontinued or last years models.
