Foxx, nicknamed Double X, was a tremendous power hitter, second to only Babe Ruth in Home Runs at the time of his retirement.  He played for the Philadelphia A's 1925-1935, Boston Red Sox 1936-1942 and Chicago Cubs 1942-44 before finishing up with the Phillies in 1945.  He was a 9-time All-Star (but had been a star 8 years prior to the first All-Star Game), 2-time World Series Champion, 3-time American League Most Valuable Player, won the Triple Crown in 1933, led the American League in Batting twice, led the AL in Home Runs 4 times and RBI 3 times.  For his career, Foxx batted .325 with 2646 Hits, 534 Home Runs and 1922 RBI. He's a member of both the A's and Red Sox Halls of Fame and was inducted to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1951.
