This is for a c. 1760 Rhode Island - Providence Meeting House Lottery Ticket - rare early "ticket number" of 56 where hundreds of these were sold.  

Winning Ticket with embossed printing on laid paper.  Notated on reverse the $3 winner to John Carpenter. 

Sold to raise funds for repairing the Presbyterian or Congressional Meeting House. It’s signed by the Lottery Manager Samuel Nightengale Jr. in period ink.  

The ticket is about 3 1/2 ” x 1 1/2” with ornate "dingbat' border.

In AU condition with standard hole punch cancel in the middle.  Guaranteed original.
