This Side of Innocence
By Taylor Caldwell
A sweeping family saga set in upstate New York during the Gilded Age (post-Civil War/Reconstruction era).
1946 First Edition of Taylor Caldwell’s, This Side of Innocence. Published by Charles Scribner's Sons, this book was a massive bestseller upon release and remains a staple of mid-century American literature. This copy features the signature Scribner's "A" on the copyright page, identifying it as a true first printing.
-Cover: The yellow cloth boards are in great shape. Yellow can often show every bit of dirt, but these have remained relatively clean with only minor shelf wear. The red and gold decorative stamping on the spine is crisp and provides a beautiful contrast.
-Binding: Excellent. The binding is tight, square, and feels very sturdy.
-Pages: The interior is clean and bright. No owner's names, bookplates, or stray marks. The paper has aged gracefully with very light, uniform toning.
