Official Submission to host the Games of the XXVIth Olympiad [cover title].The boxed set of three volumes, respectively The City; The Sports; The Media

Melbourne, Melbourne Olympic Candidature 1996 Committee, [1990].

Three volumes, maximum dimensions 425 × 265 mm (the top edge of the first and second volumes are cut at an angle, in opposite directions to each other - the spine of the first volume is 370 mm high, as is the leading edge of the second volume), 120; 279; and 68 pages with numerous illustrations (from photographs), many full-page and in colour.

Quarter leather and patterned papered boards (the three volumes are basically in gold, silver and bronze tones, respectively) with a small 'Melbourne 1996' Olympics plate mounted on the front covers; a thin strip of the patterned paper on the 'Media' volume is a little tarnished where it overlaps with the leather (a trifling production flaw); a fine set in the near-fine publisher's custom-made carrying case.

Melbourne and Athens made submissions to host these Games, but the winner was Atlanta.
