Genuine Walbro 255 LPH 'HIGH PRESSURE' Fuel Pump
Mazda RX8 2003-2012 (ALL MODELS)
It's well documented that the factory Mazda RX8 fuel pump fitted to pre-2009 models is a weak point. It's output is only around 115 liters per hour which is barely enough to support a 250-300 bhp engine for any given period of time without experiencing fuel starvation.
The OE siphon system will only continue to work as long as the pump is surpassing the fuel demands of the motor. As soon as its output is below demand, the siphon will stop working again. Fuel starvation is most common during hard cornering or under acceleration. If your RX8 is tuned beyond 250bhp then you are almost certainly starving the stock pump under load.
The Walbro 255 LPH fuel pump is an ideal upgrade for the Mazda RX8. It replaces the stock Mazda RX8 fuel pump in the holder perfectly and even uses the stock power harness. The Walbro GSS342 pump is capable of supporting enough fuel flow for engines tuned to 500bhp and beyond, eliminating any risk of fuel starvation issues.
Note:
The OE siphon assembly cannot take the elevated relief pressures as it stands. The pop-off valve on top of the siphon must be smelted on with a hot piece of metal or something similar to keep it in place. This simple modification is well documented on Google, but should you require further detail we're happy to assist.
