The Black Tension Ring

This crystal comes with the factory-style black tension ring already fitted. The tension ring is essential on these Speedmaster references — it creates the secure press-fit into the case and forms the seal that protects the movement. Crystals without a tension ring will not seat correctly in these cases.
The black ring gives the dial that distinctive framed look — a subtle dark border where the crystal meets the case that matches the original Omega aesthetic.

Acrylic (Hesalite) crystals have a warm, slightly softer look than sapphire and they won't shatter — if they take a hard knock they scuff rather than crack, and light polishing restores them to near-new condition. Preserving the original acrylic crystal keeps the watch true to its factory character and is often preferred by collectors over a sapphire upgrade.
