ARTIST: After Philip James de Loutherbourg, Anglo-French, 1740 – 1812; Engraved by John Rogers, British, 1808 - 1888 SUBJECT: A fierce battle at sea; Admiral Duncan’s victory over the Dutch fleet, North Sea October 11 1797 MEDIUM: Line engraving, with an illustrated apron SIGNATURE: Unsigned DATE: c1880s SIZE: Viewable picture 15 x 11.25cm (6 x 4.25 inches), image within the matte-area, 24 x 17cm (9.25x 6.5 inches), matte-mount 33 x 27cm (13 x 10.5 inches) matte-mount 33 x 27cm (13 x 10.5 inches) PROVENANCE: From a recent country estate auction, private collection; from a folio of works, removed and framed CONDITION: Very good for its age, no noticed issues, perhaps a very slight fading to the apron ink but just mentioned for the sake of accuracy FRAME: Unframed, professionally mounted to matte
