History.

The Jagdpanzer IV/70 (V) was a German tank destroyer developed during the final year of the Second World War. Built by Vomag on the Panzer IV chassis, it mounted the powerful 7.5 cm Pak 42 L/70 gun, the same weapon used by the Panther. Entering service in 1944, it replaced the earlier Jagdpanzer IV armed with a shorter gun. Its low silhouette and thick frontal armour made it effective in defensive ambushes on both the Eastern and Western Fronts. However, the long gun caused severe nose-heaviness, straining the suspension and reducing mobility. Production was limited by bombing and shortages, and the vehicle appeared too late to influence the war’s outcome. Despite this, crews valued its firepower and survivability in combat.
