I have had many Sansui QRX series receivers and multiples of all of them except for the QRX 8001.  I had a QRX 9001 that had been modified to have a preamp circuit added.  This gave me an idea, with that circuit, I could run 2 external amps and never even use the internal amps.  I have another QRX 6001 with the circuit added which I use with my oppo and use a Carver M600 (200 WPC) for the front amp and a Dynaco 400 (200 WPC)for the rears.  More power than I could get from any quad receiver produced and all the quad processing that Sansui QRX X001 series is known for.  This QRX 6001 will be more than enough power for 95% of the users out there, but the power hungry speakers can be driven with the preamp upgrade by having bigger external amps.
